High Speed Internet Frequently Asked Questions -

How will my service be installed?

After placing your order, you will receive a confirmation email that contains a number to call for installation. Upon calling, you will be presented with three options: schedule an installation appointment for an order you placed online or in a retail store, questions about pricing, promotions or rebates and questions about your bill, problems with your service or reschedule a previously scheduled installation. Choose option 1 and enter the five digit zip code where the service order is placed. You will be directed to an installation agent and will need to provide the order number included in your confirmation email.

Will Comcast install a wireless adapter that I already own?

Yes.  Comcast will attempt to install your wireless adapter on a "best effort" basis;  however, they cannot guarantee success of the installation with non-Comcast equipment.

Do I need my telephone modem to connect to XFINITY Internet service?
No. XFINITY Internet service uses a cable modem to connect to the Internet so a telephone modem is not necessary.
How do I reset my cable modem?
To reset your cable modem, press and hold the reset button, located on the front or back of your modem, for five seconds. If your modem does not have a reset button, you will need to powercycle your modem.
How do I Powercycle my cable modem?

Sometimes it is necessary to shut down your cable modem connection completely when something isn't functioning properly. This is similar to rebooting your computer. To powercycle your cable modem and restore connectivity, follow the directions below:

  1. Shut down your computer
  2. Unplug the cable modem from the electrical outlet
  3. Leave the cable modem unplugged for at least 10 seconds
  4. Plug the cable modem back into the electrical outlet and allow about 30 seconds to initialize before restarting your computer
  5. Turn your computer back on.
Can my modem be hooked up to my television cable?
A cable modem utilizes the same wiring that brings CATV signals into your home. Therefore, you can attach a cable modem to any active cable outlet. A high-quality splitter can be used in situations where an outlet is already occupied by a television. However, homes with a number of televisions may not have enough signal strength for the cable modem to operate properly. In these cases, it will be necessary for a qualified cable technician to install a new outlet for the cable modem.
