DigitalTalk Express Troubleshooting

How do I locate a lost handset?
    • Press the All button on the Base Unit.
    • All the Cordless Handsets will ring for one minute.
    • To stop the ringing, either answer one of the Cordless Handsets or press All on the Base Unit.
Do I need to set up Quality of Service (QoS) on my network?
  • QoS, or Quality of Service, refers to configuring your network to support high quality telephone calls.  Most customers simply connect their DigitalTalk®Express phone to their internet router and start using the service.  In some situations, you may improve performance by enabling QoS.
  • For example, the Cisco E1000 router allows for network prioritization by device MAC address.
  • It may also be necessary to configure your firewall to allow the Base Unit to have unrestricted communication with the ACN network.  More details are in the Troubleshooting section.
What is the minimum required Internet speed?
Your connection will need to provide 90kbps upload speed per concurrent call.  ACN recommends an Internet connection with at least 384kbps upload speed.
How do I set up a Static IP on my Base Unit?
  • The ACN DigitalTalk Express product requires a network DHCP server commonly built into internet routers.  If your PCs don’t need a static IP address, you have a DHCP server.
  • Static IP addressing is not supported on the DigitalTalk Express product.
How Do I Troubleshoot the DTE base and handsets?
  • The LED light on your Panasonic Base Station provides system status information that is helpful in troubleshooting if you have problems.
    • Off - Either power or Ethernet are not properly connected
    • Solid Green - Device is registered and ready to use.
    • Blinking Green - Device is downloading, allow it to complete.
    • Solid Amber - IP address conflict.
    • Slow Blinking Amber - Device is obtaining an IP and obtaining its configuration.
    • Fast Blinking Amber - If continues after power cycle, device is defective.
    • Solid Red - Normal during 1st 10 seconds after power up.
    • Slow Blinking Red - A handset is registering.
    • Fast Blinking Red - Handset(s) are being paged.

  • Network Requirements
    • Your Digital Talk Express base station must be connected to a wired, working Internet connection
    • DigitalTalk®Express has been designed so that most customers can simply connect their phone into their internet router and start using the service.   In some circumstances, it may be necessary to configure your firewall, particular for older or more complex firewalls.  The following ports should be open: SIP (TCP 5065), Web (TCP 80), Syslog (UDP 514, 5514), and RTP (UDP 49152-65535).
    • Static IP addressing is not supported.
    • Bandwidth requirements = 90kbps per call.
    • An IP address assigned by your router

      • Press menu (middle button).
      • Scroll down to IP service (tool box icon), press select.
      • Press select on Network Setting.
      • Scroll down to IP settings, press select.
      • The IP address on the screen is the address currently assigned to the phone.  Scrolling down further will display the subnet mask, gateway address, and DNS addresses.
      • To exit the menu, press exit.

      • Scroll down to IP service (tool box icon), press select.
